Our history
The story of SAS-P began in 1906 when Johannes Henricus Franciscus Schopman founded a real estate business.
Originally an excellent pastry chef, J.H.F. Schopman started the real estate business – known as AHAM Real Estate – with a couple of properties he inherited.
Not only was he an astute businessman, J.H.F. Schopman was also a very devout Christian. These two themes – the creation of a flourishing real estate business and the mission to care for human beings in need – would come to determine how AHAM developed and how SAS-P is today.
That core principle remains strong today: company dividends are directed to those who need them most. Over the years, SAS-P has made grants to hundreds of high-impact initiatives, and the current portfolio includes ca 50 organisations that offer innovative solutions with proven results.
